Achieve Education are supporting a Special Needs School based in South London. The school provides education for pupils aged 10 to 19 years; who are deaf and/or have speech, language and communication needs.

They are keen to appoint two MSI – (Multi-Sensory Impaired) Residential Workers on a permanent basis, with an immediate start.

The successful person(s) appointed will join the school’s residential service, which plays an integral part at the school. You will provide support for a deaf/blind student with their social and emotional wellbeing, alongside this the student has multiple additional needs including mental health issues, you will also facilitate communication.

The student resides at the school 4 nights a week, therefore you will be required to undertake two sleep-in duties to facilitate this. Sleep-in duties are paid as extra and are not inclusive of the normal working hours.

Staff must be able to work shift hours, on a rota, as required, usually between the hours of 07.00 – 08.30 and 15.00 – 22.00, plus additional sleep-in duties.

You will have excellent communication skills, with a good knowledge of deafness, communication difficulties, positive behaviour management, and additional health / educational needs. Experience of personal care support is also preferable.

If you are an experienced Secondary Cover Supervisor with the ability to adapt, then we want to hear from you.

About the Role

  • Secondary supply Cover Supervisor roles across KS3 – 5
  • Day-to-day, short and long-term blocks available within Barnet and the surrounding areas
  • No ties to a fixed contract as you have the flexibility to tailor your work options
  • Daily rate up to £100 depending upon experience

In order to be considered for this role, the successful Secondary Supply Cover Supervisor will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have proven experience teaching the UK or equivalent Curriculum
  • Have proven experience (min 6 months) working as a cover supervisor/teacher in the UK or equivalent curriculum
  • Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)
  • Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS / police checks
